The Turn Back Time Sampler is a masterpiece project for quilters yearning to make something truly special. Betsy has faithfully replicated the charming aesthetic from the antique quilt that her Sally’s Stitches fabric collection is based on, while updating and standardizing the construction for today’s quilter. Through the block-of-the-month program, you’ll have a chance to learn and use several different applique techniques as well as foundation paper piecing, working with diamonds, and plenty of half-square triangles. The end result is a showstopping quilt that is both timeless and nostalgic. Moda is excited to partner with Betsy to create a series of exclusive video tutorials to accompany the Turn Back Time Sampler pattern. In this video series, Betsy will share her favorite piecing techniques and her tips for working with the Turn Back Time Sampler pattern. In addition, she will teach you the different applique and specialty piecing techniques featured in the sampler. Ask your quilt shop for all the details on this exciting block-of-the-month program!

This 6-month template-based program is set to launch in May 2025 and showcases Jen’s signature style. The program will feature her stunning 2025 Moda fabric collections, Mixed Bag of Lollies and Mixed Bag of BonBons, designed to perfectly complement each element. Every month, participants will receive templates, a printed pattern, and fabric to guide them through the creation of this vibrant quilt, which finishes at 72” square.

One of my all time favorite activities is to search flea markets and vintage shops for old quilts “in need of rescue”. Sometimes it is the ones that everyone else overlooks, that seem to catch my eye. Often they are in tatters and falling apart, certainly not in good shape. But there is something about some of those aged and well loved quilts that really speak to me and they really inspire my quilty design brain.
The moment I saw this denim star quilt, I knew that it would find its way to me and that I would try to recreate it in some way. The minute I showed it to our sewing group, I could tell by their enthusiasm that we would do it for a SEW ALONG and the name FRIENDSHIP STARS seemed to be a perfect fit.

The Harbor Row Quilt design was inspired by my love for Dana Point Harbor in California, USA. My husband actually went whale-watching from this harbor way back when we were newlyweds. And we’ve continued to visit the area over the years. Each row in this quilt reminds me of the beautiful area: stars, flowers, baskets, suns, flying geese (think sea gulls), and colorful beach cottages pretty much sum up visiting this area of the southern California coast. The QAL will feature the Raspberry Summer fabric collection by Sherri & Chelsi. I plan to post monthly and also share a video with tips and tricks for each row. Blocks and videos will be posted on the first Thursday of the month, starting in March 2025.

The Unity Quilt-Along will be a year-long project starting on Thursday, January 16th, 2025, and run for approximately one year (50 – 52 weeks total)! It’s a free block of the week that will be super scrappy and include a TON of both light and dark half-square triangles, lots of color, and be 98″ x 98″ when finished. The best part of it all, is that Unity Quilt is also one of my famous “mystery” quilts, which means you will not know exactly what the finished project will look like until it all comes together in the very end!

A Quilting Life 2025 Mystery BOM

This year’s 2025 Mystery Block of the Month features 18″ log cabin blocks with 6″ centers inspired by my Summer House (Heart of the Home) quilt from last year. And, since I know some quilters appreciate the small block sewing the most, I will also have a project at the end of the year that uses just the 6″ block centers. Feel free to sew along and make all 12 large blocks, or just make the small blocks, or anything in-between!
Each month the patterns will release on the A Quilting Life blog on the first Monday of the month. You don’t need to sign up, just visit the blog to download your free patterns.

Dwellings QAL

The current quilt along is called ‘Dwellings’ and is 12 foundation pieced house blocks (all designed by me) with flying geese borders.
Each dwelling/ house block uses 2 fat quarters. We have the fabric packs in our shop, but obviously people can use whatever they have. It’s definitely not a block of the month - we send the next block out as and when we want to/can.
Blocks are sent via an email newsletter. All previous blocks are in the pattern archive so you can easily catch up on any you have missed. Anyone joining my email club receives the next newsletter with the house block, and a link to find the prior blocks in the archive.
