Materials Needed:

You will need the following to complete this project:

  • 6 F8s for Flowers
  • 1 F8 for Flower Centers
  • 7/8 yard Background
  • 1/3 yard Binding
  • 7/8 yard Backing
  • Golden Glow Table Runner Pattern # BNB2519

Paper and PDF patterns are available in our shop at Sew Lux Fabric or ask your local quilt shop to carry the paper pattern and kit one up for you!

The original version of this project was made using a mix of golden/mustard prints to make this look more like sunflowers. For this remix, we're showing you how it looks in Cannon Beach by Crystal Manning, which is shipping to shops now. Check out the other mock ups I have to share at the end of this post, too.

This runner is made up of flower blocks and some strips of checkerboard. I like to chain piece my units when I am sewing lots of similar block components.

For the checkerboard, we're going to strip piece this section. If you're new to this process, you will be sewing two long strips together and then subcutting the strip into smaller units. This is method avoids cutting lots of tiny squares. ;)

To make the checkerboard, you'll flip the subcut pieces and sew them back together.

Once you have the blocks made, follow the pattern to add background pieces to the flowers and checkerboard to make the top.

I love that it looks more like spring time in this color palette, too. I have included a couple of mock ups in other new collections arriving in shops soon including Pastel Prairie and Arabesque.

If your local shop is carrying one of these collections, ask them to kit one up for you or help you select prints from another collection that catches your eye!

Next month, we will be making the Josie Table Runner, a Charm & Mini Charm friendly pattern. I will meet you back here on March 19th.
