The original version of this project was made using Summer’s End by Fig Tree. For this remix, we're showing you how it looks in another Fig Tree collection, Rosie, which is shipping to shops now. Check out the other mock ups I have to share at the end of this post, too.

This runner is based off of one flower block, but each block is has half made with one background and half made with second background. Depending on the look you’re trying to achieve, these can be very subtly different, or have more contrast to play up the stripe effect in the background of the runner. As you make the units, be sure to pay attention to the pattern directions to create the right combinations of units so this stripe effect works.
We’re using a lot of snowball/diagonal seam/stitch-and-flip corners here. For one type of unit, we’re sewing two rectangles together. I like to use the 45-degree line on my ruler to help me draw my stitch line. Be sure to pay attention to the direction of the angles when marking.

After sewing all these snowball corners, I recommend double checking your block size and trimming up anything that is a little wonky. I know this may feel a bit tedious, but it is definitely worth the effort!

Once you get all of your units made, you’ll sew them into blocks.

Blocks get sashed together with matching background strips and then it is all ready to be quilted up and bound. I recently got a longarm and took the opportunity to practice with this Cottage Garden e2e design and love how it turned out. My original sample of this design was free motion quilted with a flower-like design on my domestic machine.

This table runner is on the larger size - finishing at 14.5” x 58.5”, so it could even lay across the end of a bed or be hung on a wall vertically at the end of a hallway to show it off.

I have included a couple of mock ups in other new collections arriving in shops soon from Moda: Happy Daze by Chloe’s Closet and Kindness by Deb Strain.

If your local shop is carrying one of these collections, ask them to kit one up for you or help you select prints from another collection that catches your eye!
Next month, we will be making the Golden Glow Table Runner. I will meet you back here on February 19th!
