White is a classic background fabric and always a great choice, but what about those times when you want to shake things up? Today I have some tips for you to find the perfect matching solid to make the prints pop!

A Bella Solids color card is a handy tool to have on hand. It folds up neatly to fit in a drawer and shows all of the precuts available in Bella Solids, as well.

If you are looking for other basics for your quilts, you can find color cards for a wide range including Edyta's Essentials, Grunge,
Kansas Troubles Basics, French General Favorites, Cross Weave, Linen Mochi, and Marbles to name a few!

Moda Match Maker is a fun version of the color card. Each fabric swatch is separate so you can use them in a variety of ways. The swatches measure 2 1/2″ x 5″ and the backing has the Bella Solid color number and name, as well as the number of the swatch.  It’s like a page number so putting it can be put back in order easily. The swatches are threaded onto a long metal tube that will allow for the swatches to be fanned easily.  When new colors are added to the Bella Solids, “swatch packs” will be available and they’ll still fit within the outer cover.  At least for the next hundred colors or so.

But maybe you are in a hurry to find the perfect solid or you just don't have it in your budget to purchase a color card...you can always drop by your favorite local quilt shop to match colors in person.
