Jelly, Peanut Butter & Jelly Rolls...

Jelly, Peanut Butter & Jelly Rolls...

It's less than three weeks!  It's time to get down to the really important part of planning for National Sew A Jelly Roll Day... the snacks.

Peanut Butter & Jelly Thumbprint Cookies.  They're the perfect NSAJRD snack!  The cookies and Jelly Rolls have a lot in common - they're both round, are most appealing in multiples and both leave "crumbs".

To be fair... the cookies probably have a few more calories.  (Recipe and image from Martha Stewart.)

Since we're busy pulling Jelly Rolls and making quilts, let's talk about that instead.  First - are you going to a shop for their event?  To see if there is a shop near you that is planning an event, check the Store Locator on the Project Jelly Roll website - National Sew A Jelly Roll Day Store Locator.

Corey Yoder is in - she made a Jelly Roll quilt this past weekend and the pattern will be coming by early next week.  She hasn't named the quilt yet so let's just go with Seriously Cute Flower Mill Jelly Roll quilt!

A Flower Mill Jelly Roll and white Bella Solid - yardage or a jelly roll.

Vanessa Goertzen of Lella Boutique has also been busy - this is Beachcomber.

Vanessa made this quilt with BasicGrey's Persimmon collection, with a little bit of Grunge mixed in.  Beachcomber measures 70" x 84".

While most of the designers for Moda have done a jelly roll quilt or twelve, I don't think anybody has done more than Joanna Figueroa of Fig Tree & Co.  Jelly Stars, Starfish, Clovers & Jam, County Fair, Jelly Parfait, Juniper, Lollipops, Stems, Twirl, Jelly & Jam and Ferris Wheel.

Brigitte Heitland of Zen Chic is also a Jelly Roll girl - or Gelee Rollen.

This is IKAT - a jelly roll quilt Brigitte designed for her Hey Dot collection.

Ikat is a free download from Brigitte's Zen Chic website.  To get the pattern, find the image and click where it says Download Here.  That takes you to a page with an End-User License Agreement - it just means you can't sell the pattern or quilts made from the pattern.  Click Accept.  Then it will show Your Order and a $0.00 total.  Click - Continue Checkout.  You will need to provide your name and e-mail address - then click Continue.  Thank you for your order!  Within a few minutes, you'll receive an e-mail saying that your order is ready.  Click the link in the e-mail to go back to the website to download the pattern.  Easy peasy.

You can save the pattern to your computer, tablet or mobile device.  Or you can print it out.  You will need to print out the templates - make sure you print them at Actual Size!  (Ask me how I know that...)

The last thing to share today is a checklist.  Whether you're spending the day at a shop, with friends or in the lovely, peaceful quiet of your own sewing room, this is everything you might possibly need to get ready for the big Jelly Roll Sewing day.

You can find a PDF of this Event Planning Checklist here.

That's all there is for today - Tuesday, August 29th.

We're keeping good thoughts and saying prayers for our friends in Houston and south Texas.
