Block Heads 2 - Block 45

We're chutchian-ing today. It's Wednesday, Block 45 and we're sharing the day with Betsy. And Hope, Evelyn, Susanna and a few others.

And Harriet. I forgot about her.

Happy Block Heads Wednesday! That's Betsy Chutchian's finished Block Heads 1 quilt, and she's getting close to getting this one put together. Just a few more blocks... eight to be exact.

Michele's beautiful Twelve Crowns block is made with Betsy's Rachel Remembered collection - it's a perfect fit!

Block 45 - Twelve Crowns.

We shared pictures and quilts from Betsy's coming-in-March collection Susanna's Scraps when we posted about Block 32, so today it's a mix of what Betsy's been up to lately - including a bit of sewing.

Have you seen her beautiful Hope's Journey quilt?

The instructions for the quilt are part of a single book, Hope's Journey. A sampler quilt in the best sense, it mixes a variety of blocks in different sizes. And it's a scrap-quilt-lovers dream quilt. The fabrics in Betsy's quilt are mostly from her Hope's Journey collection with some other "Betsy" fabric mixed in.

If you're on Instagram, a Hope's Journey quilt-along has just started.

Block Heads 2 blocks. Betsy is all caught up and it's looking good, isn't it?

Using a mix of all nine of her collections for Moda, this quilt is going to have a gorgeous mix of color and print, the kind of scrappiness that Betsy loves.

If that's not enough to keep her busy, she's also been sewing along with Moda Love - and Harriet. The fabrics are from her recent Harriet's Handwork collection.

Betsy used a charm pack so her little quilt is about 32" square. You know there are also Mini Charm and Layer Cake options for Moda Love, right?

The Moda Stringalong?

Betsy's in on that too - with a lovely little variation of rectangular blocks. The fabrics are her Susanna's Scraps scraps.

She shared a picture of Gadget Tool Cushions that she and some friends had made using Susanna's Scraps.

If you don't know about these, they're a fusible template-sheet made by Quiltsmart. Adhere the sheet to the wrong side of a layer cake square then follow the directions. Cut here, stitch on these lines, join these two sides, turn it right side out, fill with walnut shells or sand, stitch closed and... you have a cool little stand for your cellphone or tablet.

They're really cute. With or without the little selvage label - from Susanna.
