Some amazing mini quilts made their debut at International Quilt Market in Houston last fall: Moda designer Camille Roskelley  brought along mini versions of her new market patterns to decorate her booth.

And while mini quilts have always been popular, this idea of being able to make your favorite full-sized quilt in a mini version started a sort of mini "craze!"

Jumbo blocks are just as incredible made mini...

As are applique' blocks...

And if you're wondering what to do with your minis...look no further than Camille's sewing room--how about a wall just for your favorite minis?

Mini quilts are also perfect to use up scraps, Moda candy squares, charm squares, and left-over pieces from jelly rolls and layer cakes!

When making mini-quilts, consider simple quilting so the focus is on the blocks. Also consider using starch and a steam iron to prepare your fabrics before cutting and sewing. This helps with accurate piecing when working with small pieces. Mini quilts are wonderful projects to practice quilting on your home machine. Baste mini quilts just as you would a larger quilt. Using a walking foot or even-feed foot also helps when quilting mini projects.

Make your mini quilts in coordinating fabrics...

And have fun with display options...how about using clothespins to hang them?

There are lots of terrific mini quilt patterns available...and there are many patterns that are easy to adapt into mini blocks. Whether you are making mini quilts for a unique store display or to display at home...you're sure to have fun with mini quilts!
Thanks so much Camille for sharing the first 6 photos for this post! Photos 7 and 8 via A Quilting Life!
