Materials Needed:

You will need the following to complete this project:

  • 2 Mini Charm or 1 Charm Pack
  • 1/2 yard Background
  • 3/8 yard Binding
  • 3/4 yard Backing
  • Josie Table Runner Pattern # BNB2520

Paper and PDF patterns are available in our shop at Sew Lux Fabric or ask your local quilt shop to carry the paper pattern and kit one up for you!

The original version of this project was made using Mira by Zen Chic. For this remix, we're showing you how it looks in Independence Day by Sweetwater which is shipping to shops now. Check out the other mock ups I have to share at the end of this post, too.

This runner is quick-to-piece and very beginner friendly. It’s also a great one for scraps you may have leftover from Jelly Roll strips, too.

We’re using a lot of snowball/diagonal seam/stitch-and-flip corners here. After sewing all these snowball corners, I recommend double checking your block size and trimming up anything that is a little wonky. I know this may feel a bit tedious, but it is definitely worth the effort!

Once you get all of your units made, you’ll sew them into rows as instructed in the pattern.

Blocks get sashed together with background strips and then it is all ready to be quilted up and bound. I used my domestic sewing machine to free motion quilt (FMQ) some loops on this one. I find that practicing FMQ on smaller projects like pouches, pillows, and table runners can be a fun way to try out new designs/motifs.

This runner finishes at 14.5” x 46.5” and easily fits on most dining room tables or console tables.

Here's the original in Mira by Zen Chic. I used my domestic machine to quilt lots of wavy lines back and forth down the length of the table runner on this version.

I have included a couple of mock ups in other new collections arriving in shops soon from Moda: Honeyed Horizon by Keri Anguiano and Chelsea Garden 2026 by Moda.

If your local shop is carrying one of these collections, ask them to kit one up for you or help you select prints from another collection that catches your eye!

Next month, we will be making the Talley Table Runner. I will meet you back here on April 16th!
