Meet Kiley Ferons of Kiley’s Quilt Room — and Her Debut Collection, Potted

Some people have a way of making everything they touch feel genuine, joyful, and just a little bit brighter. Kiley Ferons is one of those people. The creative mind behind Kiley’s Quilt Room and now one of Moda’s newest designers, Kiley brings her fresh, friendly energy to her debut collection, Potted — shipping to quilt shops now.

A northern Virginia native and the oldest of five girls, Kiley later attended college in Idaho, where she met her husband. They’ve since settled in the foothills of West Virginia’s Blue Ridge Mountains, where family life and creativity naturally intertwine and much of her inspiration begins.

Believe it or not, Kiley didn’t love quilting at first. Her very first project — a high school church quilt — was such a struggle she vowed never to make another. But as fate would have it, she married into a quilting family! When she became pregnant with her first child, she decided to give quilting another try — and this time, she fell in love.

“I loved creating fabric puzzles that turned into keepsakes my family could use every day,” she says. That passion quickly grew into a career — starting with longarm quilting in 2015.

Rooted in Kiley’s love of both quilting and houseplants, Potted is a breath of fresh air. The line blends soft, muted tones with minimalist botanical prints that bring the serenity of nature indoors. Delicate leaves, blooms, and textures inspired by Kiley’s favorite potted plants make each print feel organic and calming.

Potted invites you to sew your own little indoor oasis.

We love getting to know the makers behind the fabric — and Kiley is full of surprises!

  • She’s a big Harry Potter fan and has read all the books to her kids.
  • She swam competitively for 10 years and now coaches for her local club team — where her daughter swims, too!
  • She’s severely allergic to poison ivy (and mildly allergic to adhesives), so fabric is definitely the safer hobby.
  • She’s secretly hooked on trash TV — think The Bachelor and Love is Blind.
  • Her mother-in-law is the one who got her into quilting (proof that sometimes mothers-in-law do know best!).
  • She admits she loves designing fabric even more than making quilts.
  • She and her husband built My Quilts App together — and it’s now home to over 40,000 users and 90,000 projects!
  • And despite her creative fearlessness, she says she’s still afraid to try sourdough — it just sounds like too much commitment.

Kiley’s creativity also extends beyond fabric and thread. As the founder of My Quilts App, she’s helping quilters connect in a digital space built just for them.

“I have always dreamed of a central location where quilters could track their projects, journal, get inspired by other quilters, and feel a sense of community! This app is all of that and more.”
