Watercolor Heart

Jess Meyer is a surface pattern designer, illustrator, and creative educator based in a small coastal town in South Africa, where she runs her studio from a sun-drenched corner of a farmhouse shared with her husband and young daughter.

Taught to paint by one grandmother and raised with a love of gardens and flowers by the other, Jess carries a generational legacy of creativity with a deep love for storytelling through art and making with her hands. After earning her Fine Art Honours degree in Printmaking, she taught herself digital design and began licensing her work, blending traditional techniques with a passion for crafting modern heirlooms.

In 2015, she started Watercolour Heart as a side hustle to cover the cost of art supplies. Today, it's a flourishing studio known for its sophisticated colour palettes, whimsical florals, and heartfelt collections that invite a sense of celebration into the everyday. Jess has collaborated with an array of brands in home décor, stationery, wallpaper, children’s products  and now finds a creative home designing fabric for the Moda family.

With every pattern she paints, Jess seeks to create connection - between artist and maker, story and storyteller. When she’s not designing, you’ll find her making joyful messes with her toddler, experimenting in the kitchen, walking barefoot through the garden, teaching watercolour classes, or mentoring fellow artists through her online courses.

Her debut collection for Moda, Silent Night, is a nostalgic love letter to the quiet beauty of Christmas - gentle, glowing, and full of warmth.
