Hello Bakers! It's nearly Thanksgiving and nearly the end of November, which means it is time to start our annual Countdown to Christmas. If you have not yet joined us on this sew-along, you are in for a lot of fun!

Our talented Chefs share a new holiday-themed block pattern every day until Christmas. 25 quilt blocks! There will be a variety of designs - some more literal holiday themed and some more holiday inspired. This year all of the blocks range in size from 6" all the way up to 24" and many of them will have cutting options for multiple sizes. We also have 4 quilt settings for you this year. We will keep them a mystery, but for those of you who like to sew each day and want to have an idea of how many of each block size you will need to make, that information is listed below. Fabric requirements for the blocks: 1 Moda Fabrics fat quarter bundle (our bundles have 24-42 prints, a larger bundle will give you plenty of options. if your bundle is small, you may want some yardage of a few of your favorite prints or solids since the biggest blocks (24") use big pieces of fabric) 3 1/2 yards background fabric (you may need more or less depending on the setting you choose, some have borders and sashing, some don't) 5 1/2 yards backing fabric 1/2 yard binding fabric Quilt settings: Option 1 - Peppermint Park by Oda May is a scrappy design with some filler blocks. This will be a good scrap buster design that doesn't require a lot (or any) of the same background fabric. (10) 6" blocks (8) 12" blocks (2) 18" blocks (1) 24" block Option 2 - Mistletoe by Mary Andra Holmes uses lots of blocks so make more than one of your favorites (or add in a block or two from previous Countdowns). No filler blocks or sashing. (20) 6" blocks (4) 12" blocks (5) 18" blocks Option 3 - Gingerbread House by Lisa Jo Girodat is a perfect quilt to complete quickly. Plan for some extra background yardage for sashing. (9) 6" blocks (4) 18" blocks OR (4) 24" blocks Option 4 - Fair Isle by Anne Wiens is a row by row type setting. Plan for a bit of extra background yardage for sashing. (14) 6" blocks (8) 12" blocks (3) 18" blocks Option 5 - Candlelight by Christine Weld uses exactly 25 blocks and some sashing. (12) 6" blocks (12) 12" blocks (1) 18" blocks
